This double degree recognises the increasing demand for scientific knowledge about how to conserve and protect wildlife, as well as develop deeper understanding of the interactions between people and animals. This arises from our ever-increasing reliance on animals for companionship and food production. The combined Zoology and Animal Science Degree at Western Sydney University provides you with hands-on experience and a range of skills including specialist knowledge of wildlife and domesticated animals, practical skills, the ability to think critically and solve problems. Career opportunities exist in a range of areas including zoological research, environmental management and consulting, wildlife biology, government quarantine, agriculture, museums, and universities, as well as, international opportunities. On-campus animal facilities include those for reptiles, small marsupials, small rodents, horses, sheep and cattle, as well as over 1,000 hectares of native, rural and aquatic habitats. Fourth year options allow you to major in Conservation Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental Consulting, as well as specialise in companion/captive animal senior keeper/trainer Certificate and Diploma training packages from WSI TAFE.
