Course Description

The MEng Mechanical Engineering / Engineering Management course provides you with the core skill set of a Mechanical Engineer, enhanced with management skills to take projects from concept to completion. This four-year integrated masters degree prepares graduates for an exciting, rewarding and well-paid career in the engineering sector and beyond. Engineering management is vital to take complex engineering projects from conception to completion. In this four-year course you will learn the importance of the key links between engineering and management, plus acquire the technical skills to understand, design and manufacture new products and the expertise to manage the process, people and finances. The first two years of the degree are common to MEng Mechanical Engineering, providing you with a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering. In your third year, you will begin to specialise in your chosen theme. You have the option to select from a variety of specialist modules, including Project Risk Management, Industrial Law and Managing Resources and Operation. You will also carry out an individual project to put what you have learned into practice. In your fourth year you will participate in a group design project with engineering students from different specialisms. During your studies you also have the opportunity to go on an industrial work placement. You can go on placement for one semester, one year or during the summer holidays of your second and third years. It can help boost your academic performance and prepare you for your career.
