This degree provides a comprehensive, modern treatment of a range of biological sciences in the context of the tropics. It emphasises the particular challenges posed to humans and other organisms (eg environmental change, rapid population growth) in tropical environments. There is a focus on emerging specialisms which, by virtue of recent rapid advances in technology, are strengthening the impact that biological science has on society in the tropics and elsewhere. Coverage of these specialisms – which range from ecological modelling to conservation genetics – prepares graduates for careers in several biological disciplines, and in a wide range of sectors beyond.

You will graduate with a sound understanding of pure and applied tropical biology in a global context. You will have acquired scientific, analytical and communication skills, and gained experience of practical research related to your chosen pathway. Graduates will be well equipped to pursue careers in areas such as conservation and global food security.
