The course comprises a major brewing research project along with some taught modules and generic training courses. For brewers in fulltime employment, we recommend that you allow 12 months to complete the research project. However, the structure of the MRes is very flexible and can be completed part-time within three years, allowing the taught component of the course to fit around employment if required. The main focus of this course is the extended piece of high quality scientific research. Research projects can be conducted off-site, for example within laboratories based at an industrial sponsor (if you have secured one), although there is provision to undertake them within the University. Taught modules are usually completed within the early part of the course and should ideally be related to the research project content in order to provide relevant background information.
