Following graduation 20 per cent of students apply for and are accepted onto PhD study at Nottingham in or at other Universities. The MSc degree is not an automatic path to PhD study and it is usual to apply during the autumn semester. Manufacturing engineers are employed in a wide range of industrial sectors from aerospace and automotive to pharmaceutical and food. Recent graduates have been employed at Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Unilever and Atkins.
