Course Description

Civil engineering is essential for sustainable provision of the infrastructure used in our daily lives, from homes and industrial buildings to roads and water systems. This programme brings together the latest scientific developments in a range of civil engineering and allied environmental engineering disciplines to provide you with a thorough grounding in the subject together with a substantial project that can be used to develop a specialisation. Internationally leading research projects support this course with particular strengths including nonlinear structural mechanics, transient hydro-thermo-mechanical finite element modelling of unsaturated soils, optimisation of water distribution system, environmental processes and advanced methods for urban flood management. The programme brings together our expertise in civil engineering and water management to prepare you for a career in the civil engineering industry or for progression to a PhD for those interested in pursuing a research pathway.
