Bachelor of Arts in Music

Course Description

What is Music ? The bachelor of arts with a major in music is an academically oriented degree for those who wish to combine the breadth of a traditional liberal arts curriculum with a focus on both the academic and applied aspects of music. The curriculum is flexible: ample electives allow for the possibility to explore additional fields of study, including double-majors, minors, certificate programs and pre-med or pre-law coursework. Because of the academic focus of this degree, students interested in studying performance should apply to a bachelor of music degree in their chosen instrument. Success Factors Successful students will demonstrate intellectual curiosity, strong academic skills and abilities (especially in expository writing), musical aptitude, music analytical ability, and the desire for a broad liberal arts education. Students in the UC College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) BA music program must achieve a grade of B or better for all required music courses.
