About MSci Environmental Geoscience Our MSci Environmental Geoscience degree is heavily science-based, emphasising the interactions between the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere in developing and controlling the Earth's environment. This dynamic system is studied through the interactions between geology, biology, chemistry and physics, which together define conditions on the Earth and how these may be influenced by human activities. In years one and two you will gain a firm grounding in Earth science, building your knowledge to make informed unit choices during your third and fourth years when a broad range of advanced topics are available for study. You will carry out an independent field and laboratory project in your third year. MSci students spend half of their final year on a major research project, which has an excellent chance of being published in scientific literature. An MSci degree is a valuable qualification if you wish to progress to PhD study.
