Course Description

About MEng Computer Science and Electronics This course is a joint degree between the departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It has been designed to meet the needs of the modern computer and electronics industries. The Bristol area in particular hosts a thriving and world-leading semiconductor design industry with increasing demand for engineering graduates with knowledge of both electronics and computing. Our students benefit from the close collaboration we enjoy with local industry, including the opportunity for an industrial placement in year three. The course has four core areas: Software, Architecture and Protocols Signals and Control Electronics and Communications Transferable Skills. From the third year onwards you can currently specialise in Microelectronics or Communications. In your final year, you will undertake a solo research project, and take optional subjects to suit your interests. MEng degrees cover the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, which denotes a professional engineer.
