MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Course Description

About MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering This degree provides a balance between the power aspects of the subject (motors and drives) and the light current material (for example, communications). The first two years are common with most of the other degrees in the department, normally allowing you to transfer between them up to the start of your third year. Years one and two provide a grounding in mathematics, computing, analogue electronic circuits and components, communications, electromagnetics, power electronics and control. This underpins more advanced study later. Practical work runs throughout the degree, and in year three takes the form of a group project. In year four, you will undertake a solo research project and have the opportunity to take optional subjects to suit your interests. MEng degrees cover the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, which denotes a professional engineer.
