The Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) is the first step towards achieving your goal. During the first semester you’ll study alongside students from other disciplines, taking part in online activities, self-directed study and face-to-face tutorials with lecturers from different health and social science subject areas. In the second semester, you’ll start to develop palpation skills and manual techniques that are key to practicing as an osteopath. You’ll find out how to improve and maintain people's health, and watch senior osteopathy students in action at the campus Osteopathy Clinic. Talk to us if you've studied in a similar field as you may be eligible for a shorter programme of study. Highlights * Endorsed by the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand. * The only New Zealand-based osteopathy programme: Unitec is the only provider of osteopathic education in New Zealand, and one of only four in Australasia. * Industry registration: together with the Master of Osteopathy, the Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) forms a five-year package that helps you become a registered osteopath. * Unitec's on-campus Osteopathic Clinic where you can observe senior students and tutors working with real patients. * Highly qualified lecturers with active relationships with diverse health services. * Strong international links: we have close links with professional bodies in New Zealand and Australia, and with osteopathic schools in Australia and Britain.
