Students who wish to study this programme may come from a wide variety of subject backgrounds, including, but not necessarily business. Those with work experience, but few formal qualifications, may also join the programme. A- Levels and Ed-excel awards, as well as a range of other certificates at this level from UK, EU and International bodies are respected. The programme will be attractive to those who prefer study of a more vocational nature and are interested in innovative teaching and assessment approaches. Those applicants interested in application of business and finance ideas have a number of opportunities on the programme for community engagement and placement or internships to develop the relevant industry based skills. This programme suits those who prefer to learn a hybrid mix of broad business skills allied with specialist accounting and finance skills. Students would undertake a range of tasks associated with commercial and public sector organisations, and would enjoy developing sophisticated solutions to business and financial problems and opportunities. The modular structure is integrated with other business and management awards offered by the Faculty and allows maximum flexibility to students to gain work experience, transfer to other business award programmes or to change their mode of study e.g. to transfer to part time study.

Graduates exit with significant subject knowledge and up to date skills designed for the modern workplace. Possible careers are very diverse including entry to the management professions, management trainee programmes in financial institutions, services or manufacturing, management in public and 3rd sector organisations, self-employment or further study at higher degree or postgraduate level. The programme’s interaction with employers, the possibility of integration of work based learning and internships further accentuate the employability of graduates and the currency of the programme content. The integration of UK, EU and international students and a strong Alumni association allows networking and the establishment of long standing friendships. Many of our graduates now work outside the UK and EU for international companies.
