Students follow a set module format which dovetails the more analytical and theoretical themes with the practical and applied disciplines. This gives students a more holistic way of learning, so that they can visualise how the each of the subject areas relate to one another. Students learn in a range of environments, from the more traditional lecture theatres and class rooms, to workshops, laboratories with industry relevant equipment. The first year practical learning experience culminates in a 6 week industrial placement with a company of the students’ choice, where they get to apply all that they have learnt. Students get the opportunity to take part in a range of extracurricular activities, by joining one of our race or rally teams. This gives them the all-encompassing experience of working within a team, understanding the management, logistics, procurement, competition, maintenance and manufacturing that all go towards making a successful and competitive car.

Student leaving with a HND qualification generally leave to find employment in a technicians’ position. This type of work will be mainly practical, based in a ‘shop floor’ environment, with the ability to develop and progress to a team leader’s position.
