BA Performing Arts (Contemporary Performance)

Course Description

We focus on exploration, experimentation and creativity in contemporary performance as the fundamentals of our programme rather than following the more traditional and conventional approaches. We challenge our students to explore what performance is and what it can be in order to foster the creation of new ideas and new work. You will follow a carefully structured programme that begins with a common core of study in Year 1 which focuses on the fundamental skills of vocal and physical expression and creativity, culminating in a final production. Year 2 allows for developing diversity into the fields of performance, directing, or arts marketing and management with a final opportunity to apply your learning, explore and experiment in a final year project where taking creative risks is encouraged. Year 3 provides opportunities for students to develop depth and independence in their work. You will apply your knowledge and skills to conceive, design and implement your projects through to successful conclusion in your chosen pathway: Performance, Directing or Arts Marketing.
