To recognise the importance of employability skills, our Electronic Engineering degree will focus heavily on developing the competences that employers want such as effective team working, excellent communication skills, and confident presentation skills. You will work in our brand new electrical and electronic laboratory facilities and you will have access to state-of-the-art hardware platforms and software tools in telecommunications, instrumentation and control systems, VLSI design and embedded software, and PCB design and manufacture. You will also have the option to undertake a work placement after completing your second year to develop your employability skills in a working environment, gain invaluable practical experience, and position you favourably for graduate roles. Our close links with many high profile companies mean we can help you secure your work placement. During your third year, you will complete an independent engineering project along with specialist modules in your areas of interest. Final year modules include MEng Group Project: intended to develop your ability to work in a high performing engineering team while a series of industrially related case studies will enable students to meet state of the art research materials within a relevant context. An industrially related case study will enable students to put design skills into practice within an industrial context. Employability and Entrepreneurship: allows graduate students from any subject area within Engineering to use their discipline in an enterprise and entrepreneurial context in order to provide solutions to key societal challenges that affect their area of work, or engage their interests. This module asks students to bring their discipline with them and share their expertise with others to identify commercial solutions. In a fast changing and highly competitive world, all organisations need creative, enterprising and entrepreneurial people, and this module aims to enhance employability by developing these key attributes.
