If you want to work with suppliers, manufacturers and specialist enterprises in the automotive and motorsport sectors - with companies such as Bentley, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover and JCB - this course could be for you. You'll apply mechanical engineering principles to automotive applications, developing the skills to analyse complex automotive systems. In your final year, you'll complete a major project and you'll take specialist modules covering engine design, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA). Our facilities include computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA) and Ricardo WAVE engine simulation and analysis software. We also have strong work placement links, so you'll gain valuable experience as part of your study. You'll have the chance to use and develop your theoretical knowledge, using computer-based models to design, implement and test your work. You'll also gain valued transferable skills, such as presenting, writing, discussion and team work.
