Course Description

This double engineering and business program will help you become an engineering manager, capable of providing technical and business leadership. The program combines civil and infrastructure engineering and business management. Civil and infrastructure engineers plan, design, construct, supervise, manage and maintain the essential community infrastructure. Our civil and infrastructure engineering program is at the forefront of engineering education and meets Australian and global industry demands. Sub-disciplines include construction/project management, geotechnical, structural, transport and water resources. The management program focuses on the roles and functions of business management. Managers deal with a range of complex issues, including wider economic and social factors. They must be flexible, able to work with others, effectively prioritise tasks and operate the financial, marketing and human resource aspects of an organisation.

Graduates have a wide range of career opportunities in Australia and overseas. There's a growing demand for engineering managers capable of providing leadership and decision-making across both technical and financial business systems. Typically they're involved in large-scale capital investment projects as well as infrastructure policy and planning. After gaining professional experience, graduates typically move quickly into middle and senior management or consultant positions. The management program will prepare you for a range of additional roles, and with appropriate experience you can expect to advance to management positions in commercial, industrial and not-for-profit organisations. Professional recognition and accreditation The Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Infrastructure) program is accredited by Engineers Australia and you will be eligible for graduate membership. Depending on what you study, graduates of the Bachelor of Business (Management) may be eligible for professional membership of the following bodies: Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) (employment relations specialisation) CPA Australia (management accounting and finance specialisation).
