MRes(Translational Medicine)

Course Description

There are two core courses in the first semester which all students will take. In the second semester, students will be expected to choose one of three streams: Cancer, Cardiovascular Medicine or Infection and Immunity. Topics covered in core courses in first semester: Genomic Medicine Personalized Medicine Business Skills and Entrepreneurship Concept to Commercialization Clinical trial design in Translational Medicine Specialist and translational modules in the second semester (Students select 1 of 3): Cancer Cardiovascular Medicine Infection and Immunity. Research Project: 38 weeks research undertaken in one of 2 Research Centres: Cancer Research & Cell Biology Infection & Immunity Vision & Vascular Science Research Dissertation: Write up of the research Students will be expected to choose their research project in the first week of the course in the first semester. There will be opportunities to meet with the proposed supervisors of the projects during this week. At the end of the research project students will write a research dissertation on the work they have performed. It is intended that this dissertation will form the basis of a future research publication.
