Our Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) is the first medical school in Australia to offer credentialed sub-speciality, post-fellowship training. It is located next to Macquarie University Hospital, Australia’s only private hospital on a university campus. In other words, our researchers and teachers are given a uniquely high level of support. The Graduate Diploma of Specialised Medicine (GradDipSpMed) is 0.5 year, full time program centred on developing knowledge, decision-making skills, and competency in a variety of specialisations, and consists of four units of study. The 2 required units involve workplace learning with competency-based assessment and coursework. This blended learning approach is ideally suited to practising doctors wishing to attain competence in a particular area of specialist practice. Students are encouraged to consider significant and original adaptations to the application and interpretation of existing knowledge.
