This degree prepares you to become a primary school teacher in NSW schools. Teacher education is a University-wide program with integrated, psychology, educational and professional studies. You will also undertake studies that satisfy the Key Learning Areas (KLA) content requirements specified by the Board of Studies, Teaching and Education Standards (BOSTES). You will select KLA units in areas such as English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and its Environment, Creative Arts and PDHPE. The BA-Psych BEd(Prim) also prepares for employment in psychology-related areas, but does not allow the use of the title ‘psychologist’. An honours year or equivalent, and a further two years postgraduate training or supervised experience is required for registration as a psychologist.
