About Us
King's College London was founded in 1828-9 by a group of eminent politicians, churchmen and others. King's was granted a royal charter by King George IV on 14 August 1829. Ten people who have worked or studied at King's and its constituent institutions have been awarded the Nobel Prize. King's has many famous former students and members of staff, including Rosalind Franklin and John Keats. In 2004, King’s College London celebrated its 175th anniversary. A special programme of events reflected the distinguished history of the College and its continued excellence in research and teaching. King's has acquired the east wing of Somerset House.
