MSc Research Biobanking

Course Description

Students will undertake a six- to twelve-month placement in one or more of the King's Health Partners Biobanks to learn the skills of practical banking and molecular pathology. Biobanks participating in 2015 include: Breast Cancer Head and Neck Cancer Infectious Diseases Prostate Cancer Thoracic Cancer Emphasis is also placed on developing core skills to further career progression, including critical appraisal of research literature, experimental design and presentation skills.

Career outcomes

We expect that graduates will go on to deliver biobank services that meet appropriate regulatory and user requirements. Some graduates might return to existing employment in biobanks, equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve and further develop their organisation's work. Other graduates might go on to research positions in either a university of research institute as PhD students or graduate research assistants.
