First and foremost, this programme equips students with specialist knowledge and problems solving skills in a range of computer systems engineering fields, including embedded systems, robotics systems and related areas such as security of computer systems and software engineering. There is some flexibility for students to focus on certain areas of computer systems engineering that they are particularly interested in. This component of the programme culminates in an Informatics MSc project. The programme also prepares students to take on certain, more senior roles in industry that require specialist management knowledge and problem solving skills related to Computer Systems engineering. This component of the course is taught through three compulsory modules.

Via the Department’s Careers Programme students are able to network with top employers and obtain advice on how to enhance career prospects. Our graduates have gone on to have very successful careers on a managerial level, working in key positions within manufacturing, engineering or engineering management.
