Course Details

Bachelor of Arts in Political Science

Course Description

One of our great traditions is our Election Watch evenings. We invite the campus, put everything up on a screen and talk, talk, talk as the returns come in. Internships make for incredible experiences, the real nitty gritty of politics. Our students have interned in party politics in Idaho, state government at Trenton and at the City Council of New York City, which is like a small country! Toxic waste dumps tend to be located closer to the residences of disadvantaged people than those of privileged people. Students interested in environmental justice take findings like these and look to find remedies.

Career outcomes

You can leave Drew with impressive internship experience, and, having studied with top-notch faculty, a complex understanding of pressing issues such as health care, educational policy, and environmental policy. We prepare students for substantive work. Our alumni go to graduate school or law school, work for federal, state and local governments, or join the financial sector, consulting firms and nonprofits. As one of Drew’s largest majors, political science students have access to a sizeable network of alumni before and after they graduate. One recent grad is a senior research associate at the American Enterprise Institute after completing an MA at Georgetown. Others are working in careers as diverse as lobbying, education reform, and the solar energy industry.
