Environmental and Soil Science PhD

Course Description

Multidisciplinary research into fundamental processes is aimed at the creation of sustainable rural, peri-urban and urban environments; with a major focus on climate change, biogeochemistry, plant ecophysiology, waste management and restoration. Current research focuses on the mechanisms of carbon and nitrogen cycling; plant-soil-microbe interactions (the rhizosphere); mycorrhizal function; pathogenic bacteria in agroecosystems; the process of composting organic waste.
