The course offers students a unique opportunity to study advanced theory and practice relating to the international banking sector, and to develop an appreciation of the causes and significance of current developments in this vitally important and dynamic sector of the economy. The course provides advanced level management and business training relating to practical issues in international banking, with particular reference to issues pertaining to developing countries and emerging markets. This involves understanding the practical managerial issues surrounding the running of banking/financial firms, such as bank financial and strategic management; bank and corporate performance; and the analysis of financial systems and markets. Also under consideration will be the interactions between economic development and the design, growth, operation and performance of the financial system in emerging markets.
