You’ll explore strategic decision-making and project management, and develop presentation skills to enhance your employability. You’ll study in a wide range of disciplines, from systems analysis and design to project management, usability and more, and tailor your studies to your particular interests through second- and third-year options. You’ll also have access to a state-of-the-art usability laboratory for studies in human and digital interaction, as well as the option of gaining paid real-world experience on a work placement.

This degree course provides graduates with a diverse set of business and IT skills that are applicable across the corporate IT environment, from project management, IT support or IT sales and marketing to web development and business analysis. Links with industry The course benefits from Solent’s extensive links with the business community, and recent guest speakers have included representatives of British Gas and Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Industry liaison panels inform course design and development; we also encourage and support you to gain industry experience during holidays, or develop your final-year project in conjunction with industry. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in competitions such as the Microsoft Imagine Cup. Students have also been involved in industry projects through our Solent Creatives agency, as well as the Wessex Round Table of Inventors. Transferable skills Through extensive training in business and management, particularly the Introduction to Professional Practice and Graduate and Professional Development units, you’ll develop skills in communication, strategic planning, project management, analysis and problem-solving, teamwork and presentation.
