Lancaster University Management School

Course Details

BA (Hons) Economics and International Relations

Course Description

Economics studies the production and distribution of wealth. This means that it is concerned with consumers, workers, industry, commerce and government at the level of the individual and the market (micro-economics) and the national economy (macro-economics). It also focuses on important contemporary issues such as the globalisation of world markets, international monetary systems, the privatisation of industry and the management of the economy. Politics and International Relations at Lancaster is distinctive in seeing politics as a discipline that connects theory and government, global and local, state and society. The study of politics involves both an understanding of the history of political ideas and of the institutions that make the practice of politics possible. At Lancaster we emphasise the importance of the link between our research and teaching because of the benefit that it brings to our students in their studies.
