Kinesiology is the study of human movement. As physical activity plays a central role in health and well-being, a solid background in this field opens doors to a number of exciting potential careers. Graduates may find work as exercise specialists in clinical and health-related institutions or pursue a number of varied fields such as medicine, nutrition, education, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and chiropractic. As a Kinesiology student, you can look forward to an exciting future! The profession is continuing to evolve in Canada and internationally and is now a regulated health profession within Ontario. Our multidisciplinary Kinesiology programs offer you the chance to explore many different areas, including physiology, biomechanics, sports medicine, adapted physical activity, lifestyle management, and nutrition. You can also study the psychological, gerontological, and sociocultural factors in the field. And in your fourth year, you will have the opportunity to complete a research project under a member of your faculty. Our broad-based curriculum and balance of in-class and hands-on learning will equip you to work in a number of fields, including clinical exercise therapy, personal training, disability management, health and safety, ergonomics, fitness consulting, health, and fitness and sport leadership.

As an Honour’s student, you can also opt to pursue a Master’s, in which you will have the chance to pursue a project that’s aligned with your own interests and passions. Current graduate projects range from assessing the mental and physical health benefits of dog walking to evaluating the effectiveness of kettlebell workouts.
