Option to go on an international exchange. This exciting degree course offers the opportunity to study English literature alongside the complementary subject of multimedia journalism. You will take a range of core and option units from the English degree while also looking at the skills required by modern-day journalists. No longer is journalism just about investigative news reporting and writing. Today’s journalists are expected to have the skills to work successfully in broadcast, print and online and this course will look at all these requirements.

Previous graduates from our courses in the areas of English and journalism have entered a wide range of employment, especially media work and teaching, where their transferable skills are particularly relevant. Recent English graduates have become school and college teachers, and gained employment in fields as diverse as banking and finance, manufacturing and retail. There is also the opportunity to engage in further study and professional training, for example some of our graduates go on to study creative writing at postgraduate level in our Manchester Writing School under the creative direction of Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy.
