Course Description

The MBA (Masters in Business Administration) programme is designed to address the development need of middle to senior managers from a wide range of organisations. In particular it will be of benefit to managers wishing to enhance their career prospects within their current area of expertise. Equally it will help those who wish to move from a specialist field to a more senior, strategic role. Our programme is designed to help students to be more effective managers. Our aim is to equip students with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to better manage complex organisational issues in a changing and challenging environment, as well as handling complex organisational issues across a wide range of management disciplines. Our course content includes the latest thinking and research on management at strategic level, and has participants from a wide range of business and service backgrounds which provides an excellent pool of experience and expertise from which to learn. Emphasis is placed on developing key competencies such as leadership, decision-making and organisational transformation, and innovation to a senior level as well as managing across cultures. In addition syndicate and group work is encouraged to enable students to benefit from the varied backgrounds and experience of other cohort members. Guest speakers and alumni may also be invited in order to enrich the content. The Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is aimed at enhancing career prospects together with a basis for life-long learning and development. Students will develop knowledge that will be of particular value to organisations that operate on a global scale as well as national and regional levels. In addition, the programme will provide students with: A sound educational experience, rigorous, intellectual demanding and broad based programme of study that will enable them to acquire a solid grounding in theories and practices of management; The development of transferable intellectual skills and a critical awareness of theory and research in the chosen areas through the study and application of contemporary issues in the chosen discipline areas; A platform for the study of organisations, management and changing external environments.
