Course Description

Explore your personal design direction with our BA in Fashion Design. Over the course of 3 years, you’ll be immersed in all aspects of the fashion industry from traditional methods of tailoring, draping, and embellishment techniques to fashion illustration and computer aided design (CAD) skills. Nurturing your design and creativity is our main objective for this course, and we strive to give you the most opportunities to succeed in the fashion industry. The core studio and technology modules allow you to explore your personal design style—from idea generation, design development, and pattern creation through to garment construction using contemporary production techniques. Throughout the course you will see what changes are taking place in the fashion industry, and learn to recognise the traditional manufacturing bases that have been relocated to low cost economics.

Career outcomes

Students have the opportunity to spend an additional year of study at the renowned NABA Institute in Milan, Italy. NABA, who also work with Central St Martins in London, is based in the Italian fashion capital and offers exciting and stimulating insight into the workings of the avant-garde fashion houses of Milan. Students who successfully graduate from Griffith College also have the opportunity to take postgraduate study at NABA leading to a Master of Arts award.
