Course Description

The Master’s degree program in Anthropology prepares students for a Ph.D. as well as for careers in government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, museums, and numerous other fields. Students may focus on cultural anthropology or bioarchaeology. Students learn the history of critical inquiry in the discipline of anthropology and how to approach and develop their own topics of research; they are trained in fieldwork and ethnographic methods appropriate for their plans and goals; and they are guided through the research and writing process central to completion of a thesis or project. In the process, they will also learn about the ethics of conducting research.
