M Eng.Computer System Engineering

Course Description

MEng (Computer Systems Engineering) is a four-year programmme. It aims to develop theoretical and practical competencies in computer systems design and application, engineering analyses, innovation, project design, project management and problem solving. Lancaster University’s engineering programmes require students to commence with fundamental engineering modules from the first year of their study. Students will not be repeating subjects such as physics, mathematics and chemistry that they undertook at school level in the first year of the engineering programmes. Student numbers are strictly controlled to provide personalized engagement with academic staff members. Typically, class sizes are only about 25 students. Students also pursue a range of foundation courses in areas such as mathematics and technical communication. The Institute also operates a “Buddy Programme” through its “Student Welfare Centre”. Under this programme an academic staff member works one-on-one and shadows a student all through his stint at the Institute.
