Course Description

Ecological Engineering is the design of sustainable ecosystems that integrate human society with the natural environment for the benefit of both. The concentration in Ecological Engineering emphasizes incorporation of ecological principles in engineering design to promote development of robust and sustainable human-environmental systems. The curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in environmental science and ecology while maintaining engineering rigor and an emphasis on problem solving. Ecological Engineering concentration requires coursework in general ecology, advanced aquatic ecology, and soil science, as well as additional engineering coursework in ecological engineering and nonpoint source pollution management.
