Course Description

The department offers a B.S. major in physics and astronomy and a B.A. major in physics and astronomy. Within each major, several options are available. A minor in astronomy and a minor in physics also are offered. The requirements include standard lecture courses and labs, as well as research and independent labs (including PHYS 481L and 395). Our students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of exciting research activities in the department. The emphasis on research is aimed at enhancing physics learning, learning technical skills, and developing career goals. Students completing the degree program are prepared for advanced study in physics or related fields, or for technical employment in a wide range of areas.
