The Department of Civil Engineering works to assure that our graduates are prepared to begin careers in civil and environmental engineering, to begin graduate study, and to contribute to society as educated citizens and professionals with technical and social skills. We are constantly working to make sure our curricula contain essential and useful courses to efficiently achieve these goals and provide breadth and depth in engineering science and in other academic areas to provide a well-rounded individual. Discovery Program and engineering science courses are chosen to meet the interests of the student, the requirements of the University, and ABET (a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology).
