Aircraft Maintenance and Operations

Course Description

The aircraft maintenance, technical operations and continuing airworthiness sectors are vital parts of the global aviation industry. The new Bachelor of Science in Aircraft Maintenance and Airworthiness Engineering has been developed in response to growing demand from these sectors, and is jointly delivered by UL and Lufthansa Technik Shannon Ltd, a leading multinational maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO) and modifications’ services provider for civil operated aircraft. The programme provides the opportunity for graduates to BOTH obtain their degree AND satisfy the knowledge requirements for the EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (Category C) in just four years. Delivering a unique blend of academic and industry-focused content, the programme is designed to equip students for senior positions in the aviation industry. To progress to senior positions, a university degree is a crucial asset. A degree provides you with a broader range of knowledge and the crucial ability to think critically, and gives you much more flexibility to move around within the industry. Very often, engineers will either obtain their EASA licence and then decide to go back to university to obtain a degree (perhaps at night), or vice versa, get their degree first. The whole process then takes a considerable amount of time (six years or more). The programme features a unique academia/industry partnership, which leverages UL's world-renowned expertise in Aeronautical Engineering, and the vast experience of Lufthansa TechnikShannon Ltd. , which has been an approved EASA Part 147 training organisation for more than 20 years. Not only that, but Lufthansa Technik Shannon Ltd is also an approved Part 145 Aircraft Maintenance organisation with a large 6-bay base maintenance facility
