BA (Hons) Children and Families

Course Description

Develop and explore the underpinning theoretical perspectives and research with children and families and make coherent links to employment with access to a wide range of modules offered by our Childhood, Social Work and Social Care departments. Engage with a wide-ranging multi-disciplinary programme that will inform, challenge and benefit you in your own understanding of children, young people, families and communities, and in your own academic and personal development. Complete a placement as a volunteer to allow you to make links between theory and practice and prepare for employment. Qualify with a degree that gives you skills in critical analysis, reflective practice and research in an inter-professional way and which will equip you for a range of careers with children and families.

The programme explores childhood, families and service provision across a range of sectors from a multi-disciplinary and inter-professional perspective Future careers could include direct work with children and families (such as children’s centre, local authority, youth work), lead onto professional qualifying programmes (such as the MA (Social Work) or Initial Teacher Training), further academic study (Masters or PhD), careers as a health professionals working with children and families or in a people-oriented employment.
