Course Description

The study of economics arises from the scarcity of resources relative to the size of human wants. The discipline provides a framework for analyzing and solving problems occurring from such a scarcity. Economics deals with individual or business decision-making and public issues such as inflation, unemployment, budget deficits, government regulation, international trade and development, and environmental pollution. Economists conduct research, collect and analyze data, conduct experiments, monitor economic conditions, and develop forecasts. They apply economic policy to banking, insurance, finance, manufacturing, agriculture, education, health, welfare, law, criminal justice, international trade, labor, energy, natural resources, and transportation.
