This program requires a minimum of 192 credits. Students not in the BSME/MBA combined program take advanced technical elective courses, enabling them either to investigate an area of mechanical engineering in depth or to broaden their areas of technical competence in mechanical engineering or closely related fields. Faculty mainly associated with mechanical engineering pursue research in the areas of composite materials, fatigue, atmospheric science, biomechanics, bioprocessing, atomization, mechanisms and nondestructive evaluation.
