Course Description

Our acting degree offers an intensive training program where you will develop acting, voice and movement skills to a professional level. You'll be based at our Camp Street Campus - a dynamic hub for our creative students. You'll develop your acting, voice and movement skills to be competitive in the industry. You will also learn the practical skills of working with agents and preparing for auditions. Studio classes are taught by respected artists who work or have worked in the industry themselves, ensuring that the perspective gained by emerging performers is relevant, vigorous and contemporary. You will be encouraged to explore existing repertoire and new work. The degree blends ensemble studio practice with critical theory, incorporating workshops, rehearsal and research. Subjects include: voice and singing, dance* and movement, acting for theatre and film, and critical studies. A series of studio and public performances occur at each year level, inclusive of a presentation to industry at the conclusion of the program.

Career outcomes

Career Opportunities Graduates work in both established and emerging theatre companies, playing roles in film and television, developing self-generated works, voice-over and online, in presentation for tools such as corporate videos, and educational or issue-based theatre. If drama teaching is a career option, the sequence of four dance courses undertaken as part of the degree program form the basis of a second discipline for entry into a Masters of Education program. This may be undertaken in Ballarat or elsewhere. You may perform in the following types of productions: film television established and emerging theatre companies developing self generated works voice-overs corporate videos educational or issue-based theatre drama and dance teacher
