The Department of Politics and Public Administration at HKU was first established under the name of ‘Department of Economics and Political Science’ in 1937, and was originally modelled after the London School of Economics and Political Science. During the previous century, the Department has contributed significantly to advancements in political science and public administration, both locally and internationally, through excellence in research, teaching, and service to the community. Today, the HKU Department of Politics and Public Administration is consistently ranked among the top in Asia and worldwide. Becoming an HKU PPA student means having access to nearly four dozens full-time and part-time international experts on politics and public administration, some of whom are retired and highly experienced public servants.
