Advanced Accounting and Finance

Course Description

Developed to align with the Chartered Professional Accountants' (CPA) 'Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance' program, the intensive format of the AAF program is specifically designed for individuals that have completed a two or three year accounting diploma or an accounting degree and are pursuing a career in accounting. AAF will provide you with the job-ready skills employers across the country value within the accounting and finance functions of their businesses. The program will enhance your technical skills (financial and management accounting, taxation, IS, and assurance) while helping you develop professional competencies employers look for during their search for accounting and finance talent including ethics, communication and problem solving skills.

Career outcomes

In just two semesters, as an AAF graduate you will be prepared to write CPA Canada's National Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance certification exam. You will have a strong accounting foundation, the ability to communicate and problem solve and to use computerized accounting systems. Particular focus is on analysis and interpretation of financial information to make sound financial control and ethical decisions. Opportunities may exist for you in these key areas: account and payroll, audit and assurance support, general accounting reconciliation, financial statement preparation, presentation and analysis, and cost accounting and budgeting.
