Course Description

As a Biotechnology Major, each student will: be able to describe the basic molecular concepts essential for understanding the field of biotechnology and the applications of biotechnology. (PDF) demonstrate proficiency in using the tools of biotechnology in an applied laboratory setting. (PDF) be able to find and read published scientific research in biotechnology and summarize and communicate that research effectively and critically. (PDF) acquire knowledge of ethical aspects of biotechnology and be able to analyze alternate viewpoints. (PDF) learn to work as a team in the laboratory setting or group presentations. (PDF) By achieving these goals the student will have the knowledge base, technical proficiency, and communication skills for post-baccalaureate employment in the biotechnology field or for graduate/professional advanced education.
