Course Description

Political science uses both humanistic and scientific perspectives and skills to study governments, public policies, and political behavior in the United States and around the world. Students majoring in Political Science select one area of specialization from four traditional sub-fields: American Political Systems, Processes, and Behavior; Comparative Political Systems, Processes, and Behavior; International Relations; Public Policy and Political Theory. In addition to the strong core of faculty in traditional fields, the department has long standing strengths in three cross-cutting areas of study: the politics of groups and identities, political violence and human security, and environmental politics.
