This programme is designed to enable students to apply computer-based technologies and systems that cater for individual and organisational information needs. It is highly practical and prepares graduates for careers working with information systems and IT in business, government and industry. It can also serve as the foundation for further study at NorthTec and beyond. The Diploma in Information Systems provides entry-level skills in managing and communicating information both within and between organisations. Students will learn essential IT skills and gain knowledge of business processes to effectively use, develop and manage IT-based systems. Skills covered will range from an introduction to e-commerce and web design through to financial information systems and programming. Teaching will occur both in the classroom and computer labs for the practical components. On successful completion of this programme, students can progress on to the level 6 Diploma in Software Development.
