Career outcomes

What does a typical career in agribusiness look like? In the 21st century, the answer to this question may well be that no career is typical. Ongoing advances in technology, information technology in particular, mean opportunities continue to evolve. Today's firms are looking for employees who have the skills to make sense of the world around them, especially in a rapidly changing, global agriculture industry. Agribusiness graduates from Mississippi State University have a strong record of not only securing many different types of positions but also becoming industry leaders. The opportunity to specialize separates a degree in agribusiness from a standard business degree. Agribusiness firms need employees in sales, management, finance, and similar areas like other companies, but are also looking for employees with a background in and knowledge of the agriculture industry. The specializations in agribusiness, however, include more diverse areas such as production management, commodity marketing, and public policy analysis.
