Course Description

This degree programme is designed for students who wish to specialise in the area of accounting and finance. It will be of particular interest if you are considering a career with a more financial orientation. About the programme The study of accounting and finance will progress through this programme, so that students obtain a critical grasp of core theory along with a thorough knowledge of these disciplines, and extensive professional skills of application and analysis. This study is grounded in a wider understanding of the external environment such as markets, marketing and business strategy and includes ethical considerations throughout. In the third year you will have the opportunity to undertake either a one year work placement or an optional work placement module. This experience will significantly enhance your CV and future graduate employment prospects, help you to build a professional network and provide a valuable opportunity to apply and further develop your knowledge and skills. The final year of the programme is designed to build on the professional and practical knowledge you have already acquired by offering a range of optional modules that will enable you to tailor your degree towards your own interests and aims. This means you will graduate with enhanced knowledge, professional and technical skills, and a heightened sense of commercial awareness that will be immediately transferable to the business environment.

Graduates may also be able to apply for exemptions from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and to become an associate of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
