Course Description

Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour, thoughts and feelings. It covers a wide range of approaches including the study of the biological processes that underpin our behaviour; considerations of the ways in which behaviour and thought change over the lifespan; explanations of aspects of thinking such as memory; and ways in which our behaviour id affected by social groups. Because psychology is a science, an important aspect of the course involves gaining an understanding of the research methods used to obtain reliable and valid empirical evidence to support its theories and explanations. By the end of the course, you will have gained a sound understanding of these methods, together with a knowledge of various aspects of psychology and transferable skills such as the ability to evaluate information and apply your knowledge to different situations.
